It was a successful week for two Dallastown girls’ sports programs.

In field hockey, the Wildcats ran the gauntlet. The team knocked off Gettysburg in a long-anticipated matchup between two rivals during the YAIAA semifinals on Tuesday. How it unfolded? A penalty shot with 2:05 remaining from Maggie Noll found the back of the net, and made the difference in a 1-0 victory.

Then in the championship round, the Wildcats beat Bermudian Springs 2-0 to win the league title. The Wildcats will now open the Class AAA District 3 tournament Tuesday at 7 p.m. as the No. 11 seed at No. 6 Daniel Boone.

On the girls’ soccer field, the Wildcats were YAIAA champions as well, and picked up some thrilling wins down the stretch to claim the crown.

In the semifinals, Mia Rexroth played hero for Dallastown, netting a goal 93 seconds into overtime to give the Wildcats a 3-2 victory over Northeastern.

In the title round, the Wildcats got the game-winning goal in double overtime from sophomore Carson Gold to beat Dover 3-2.

The Wildcats open the Class AAA District 3 tournament Tuesday as a No. 10 seed at No. 7 Elizabethtown. Click here to see the complete tournament bracket.
