Poll: YAIAA girls' Athlete of the Week | Sept. 28-Oct. 4

There’s great games, and then there’s milestone games. And Brooke Firestone had both all in one this past week for the Dover girls’ soccer team.

Firestone, a senior with the Eagles, scored four goals - all four of the Eagles tallies in the team’s 4-0 win over Kennard-Dale on Wednesday. It also marked her 100th career goal, the first Eagles player to ever hit that milestone.

Firestone had already owned the Dover career scoring record after she broke Maxine Herman’s mark of 93 in a game against West York.

“She said to me, ‘You know, this is a team achievement, a team award,'” Dover head coach Bret Altimore said following that contest against the Bulldogs. “And for her to recognize that it takes more that one (player) to score a goal just shows how classy she can be.”

Because of her achievement, Firestone was recognized this week as an Athlete of the Week nomination. Vote now, before polls close Monday at 5 p.m.
