Poll: YAIAA football Athlete of the Week | Sept. 21-Sept. 27

What stood out from Week 4 of the high school football season?

York Catholic grabbing its first win of the year did. And the Irish literally nabbed it out of thin air.

After holding a 23-6 lead, the Irish saw rival Delone Catholic scratch its way back into the game - 12 points in the third quarter and a touchdown late in the fourth put the Squires ahead 24-23. But York Catholic scored on a 57-yard touchdown pass from Daniel Yokemick to Luke Brennan with 38 seconds remaining to go ahead 29-24. Moments later, Yokemick’s interception sealed the win for the 1-3 Irish.

West York also got its first win of the season, a 42-21 victory at Eastern York. Star running back Cadence Thomas quit the team this past week, although his replacement Ryan Narber came on strong - 21 carries, 122 yards and three touchdowns in the victory.

Littlestown also found its first win of the 2015 campaign, topping York County Tech 23-6. The Thunderbolts have had a hard time scoring points this season, although got a spark from running back Wes Storey, whose 56-yard scoring run in the third quarter highlighted a 16-0 second-half advantage in favor of Littlestown.
