Poll: YAIAA boys' Athlete of the Week | Sept. 21-Sept. 27

Here’s to the standout team performances early in the 2015 fall sports season.

For starters, some programs at Central York have been putting together strong campaigns thus far. The Panthers’ boys’ soccer squad sports a 9-1 overall record and 6-0 mark in Division I play. And the boys’ golf team has also experienced success, evidenced by their first-place standing in Division-I play with 126 points.

Also on the soccer field, the Gettysburg boys are undefeated with a 9-0 overall record and 5-0 standing in Division II competition. For its part, Biglerville picked up a big win over Bermudian Springs to knot things up in the YAIAA Division III standings. And in Division I, Central continued its strong season, moving to 6-0 in league play this year following two wins last week.

York Suburban cross country continued to motor on, holding an 11-0 overall record following the team’s clean sweep at Fairfield this past week.

Another cross country team that might be overshadowed by York Suburban’s record and history of success could be Dallastown, although the Wildcats’ resume is just as impressive in 2015: An 11-0 overall mark and 2-0 record in Division I.

Of course, our Athlete of the Week poll identifies the top individual performers from the past week in YAIAA athletics. Vote away, as the poll closes Monday at 5 p.m.
