Maddie McLain had a standout freshman year as a cross country runner for the Eastern York Golden Knights.

She was one of the top finishers in last year’s girls’ PIAA meet, and was named a GameTimePA All-Star. All told, McLain burst onto the scene to place fifth in her first YAIAA meet in 20:21.26, followed by a ninth-place finish at districts. She improved on those times to place 23rd in 19:47 at the state championships.

This year, she’s back to lead a powerful pack of returning runners in the YAIAA Division II ranks.

McLain’s effort this past week - where she set a course record at Reservoir Hill, as the Golden Knights moved to 3-1 on the season - garnered her a nomination in our Athlete of the Week poll. Vote now, before polls close Monday at 5 p.m. (Click here to vote, if the below poll isn't showing up.)
