Q&A with York Suburban baseball player Brendon Delridge

York Suburban third baseman and pitcher Brendon Delridge is preparing for his senior season next year.

Individually, the 2015 season was a success for Delridge, but he still has things he would like to improve on.

GameTimePA caught up with Brendan recently, and here’s what the slugger had to say:

Were you satisfied with your individual performance this year?

Yeah I was.

What about it made you happy?

Well, because it’s my first year on varsity. I feel like I really stepped up, especially with my hitting, it was really improved from last year, and I was glad about that.

How do you look to improve in the future?

I think my ERA was a little high, so I’d like to improve upon that.

What opponent gave you the most fits on the field?

I think Bermudian. Even when they were down they would always find a way to come back. Even though we pulled out the win (5-2).

What was your favorite moment of the season?

My favorite moment … even though we lost, the very first game, (against Gettsyburg) that lasted about 14 innings.

What is the highlight of your sporting career thus far?

My career high in strikeouts (11).

If your sport wasn’t offered, what sport would you play?

Basketball.

Why’s that?

I just think its fun, I follow that a lot and it’s my second favorite.

What sport is your worst?

Probably soccer.

Besides baseball, what do you like to do?

Spend time with my family and friends, mostly my dad.

Who is your role model?

My dad. He used to play a lot of sports, and he would have a lot of injuries. People would say he wouldn’t be able to come back but he would do all the training and would most definitely come back.

What’s your pregame routine like?

Most of the time I’ll try to get to the dugout early and just try to relax. Sometimes I get really nervous on game day, and I just need to relax and focus on the positives instead of the negatives.

What embarrasses you most about your parents?

I think because they are really outgoing and don’t care about what they think. They’ll just do whatever.

Do you work during the summer?

Yes.

What is your job?

I mow lawns and work at Giant.

What’s your dream date?

Probably just being on the beach.

Anything else besides that?

No, just being at the beach.

If you could go anywhere on vacation, where would you go?

I would like to go to Ireland. I have a lot of family in Ireland who I’ve never met yet. My grandparents seem like really cool people, and I’d like to meet them one day.
