What to watch: April 27-May 2
Here is a glance of the week's high school spring sports events to watch:
MONDAY
YAIAA singles championships, tennis: The Class AAA and AA titles will be contested at South Western.
Dallastown at Spring Grove, baseball: The Rockets lead YAIAA Division I, but Dallastown isn't far behind.
Littlestown at Kennard-Dale, softball: This could determine the Division III champion.
Central York at South Western, softball: The Panthers' long YAIAA Division I loss came earlier against the Mustangs.
Kennard-Dale at Cumberland Valley, girls' lacrosse: Susquehannock already earned a big win against the Eagles. Can the Rams replicate that success?
TUESDAY
New Oxford at Kennard-Dale, girls' lacrosse: K-D senior Morgan Day enters with the week 15 goals shy of the all-time state mark. The Rams travel to Cumberland Valley on Monday but can clinch the YAIAA regular-season title with a win against the Braxtin Reddinger-charged Colonials.
Dallastown at Susquehannock, boys' lacrosse: This match will be important in deciding the league's regular-season champion. West York and Red Lion also are in the hunt.
YAIAA doubles tournament, tennis: Class AAA matches are at South Western, while Red Lion hosts Class AA matches.
Dallastown at Red Lion, track and field: On the girls' side, a division title hangs in the balance. Dallastown holds a game lead on Red Lion and Central York.
Eastern York at Gettysburg, track and field: The girls' winner gets the Division II title.
Eastern York at Northeastern, boys' volleyball: This will be a 'blackout' match in honor of Northeastern junior Marcus Josey.
WEDNESDAY
Dallastown at Red Lion, baseball: Big rivalry game at Horn Field.
Spring Grove at South Western, baseball: Depending on what happens earlier in the week for Spring Grove, this matchup could remain an important one for both teams.
York Suburban at Littlestown, baseball: Early frontrunners are chasing Eastern and played a stellar first meeting.
YAIAA doubles finals, tennis: The semifinals and finals will be played at South Western.
THURSDAY
York Suburban at Eastern York, boys' lacrosse: A game that was postponed from late March.
District 3 team championships, boys' tennis: Class AAA action begins at Hershey Racquet Club.
FRIDAY
York Suburban at Eastern York, baseball: If Suburban gets by Littlestown, this matchup gets even more interesting.
West York at Dover, softball: The Eagles are in pursuit of a division title and must fend off their neighboring rival.
District 3 team championships, boys' tennis: Class AA quarterfinals take place in Hershey.
SATURDAY
White Rose Invitational, track and field: The annual event at Central York is a local precursor to next week's YAIAA championships.
Dallastown Invitational, boys' volleyball: Ten local teams, including Bermudian Springs, Biglerville, Central York, Delone Catholic, Dover, Eastern York, Fairfield, Hanover, Littlestown and the hosts, will be there.
District 3 championships, boys' tennis: The first round and quarterfinals for Class AAA and AA singles takes place in Hershey.
