PIAA Wrestling Rapid Reaction: 5 Class AAA semifinals to watch

After another wild day of action at the PIAA Class AAA Individual Wrestling Championships, the semifinals are set for tomorrow morning at 9 a.m.

Below we'll take a look at five of the most intriguing semifinals with short analysis and a pick to win each bout.

1. 126 pounds: Bethlehem Catholic's Luke Karam vs. Shippensburg's Chandler Olsen. Olsen reached the semifinals with a pair of falls while Karam is a returning Class AA champion from a year ago. Olsen is a newcomer to the semifinals stage who been rather impressive the last two days. Prediction: Karam, 5-4.

2. 152 pounds: Pittsburgh Central Catholic's Vincenzo Joseph vs. Punsutawney's Caleb Young. Young is unbeaten this year while Joseph has just one loss, making this a must-see matchup. Joseph is the returning 138-pound champ while Young was fifth in the same class a year ago. Prediction: Joseph, 7-2.

3. 182 pounds: Cedar Cliff's Josh Colello vs. Mt. Lebanon's Kellan Stout.  Colello enters at 43-4 while Stout is 36-0 and trying to become Mt. Lebanon's first PIAA champion since Kurt Angle back in 1987. Prediction: Stout, 4-3.

4.

195 pounds: Cumberland Valley's Francis Duggan vs. Governor Mifflin's Jan Johnson. The matchup everyone wanted to see in the District 3 final, as the defending PIAA champion Johnson faces the upstart freshman Duggan. Can't wait to see these two lock horns. Prediction: Johnson, 3-2 (UTB).

5. South Western's Seth Janney vs. Kiski Area's Tyler Worthing. Janney, a sophomore, is 40-2 on the season while Worthing, a junior, is 19-0. Intriguing matchup with the winner likely getting Boyertown's Jordan Wood. Prediction: Janney, 5-3.
