There were plenty of heroes this past week at the District 3 wrestling tournaments held in Hershey.

Lucas Barshinger continues his strong season at Central York High School. After a strong campaign as a running back on the Golden Knights football team, he currently holds a 28-0 record on the wrestling mat. This past weekend he won the District 3 Class AA wrestling title at 195 pounds.

There were also stories of redemption, such as South Western’s Seth Janney bouncing back after falling just short last year of a PIAA Championship appearance. Janney rebounded to win the 220-pound title in the District 3 Class AAA tourney this past weekend.

Biglerville’s Nate Newberry also had a strong showing. After finishing fourth last year in the District 3 Class AA tournament, Newberry went on to win the 145-pound title this past weekend.

And four Bermudian Spring wrestlers - Briton Shelton (170 pounds), Colton Dull (182), Sam McCollum (220) and Brady Linebaugh (285) - all won district titles of their own.

With that, we take a look at at this week’s Athlete of the Week nominations.
