It was a slow holiday week in the world of local high school athletics. With that being said, there were some games, and some holiday features, to be covered and addressed.

Specifically, from a boys’ basketball standpoint, where GameTimePA reporter Matt Goul told the story of William Penn basketball, a program that’s been a model of consistency amid uncertainty within the school district.

Last weekend, the team narrowly lost to state basketball power Chester - a 49-48 defeat at William Penn High School. The Bearcats followed that up with a 61-44 victory over Red Lion High School last Tuesday, getting another solid performance from Jahaire Wilson while moving to 6-2 on the season.

Wilson is a candidate for our Athlete of the Week award, along with a handful of other locals who did step up during the holiday week:
