Bermudian Springs atop YAIAA football power rankings

A thunderous decision last Friday could have had a ripple effect on the YAIAA football power rankings entering Week 4. Instead, Dallastown dropped just one spot after its 35-3 home loss to Penn Manor.

The nonleague slate of games has finished after three weeks, except for the rotating bye for Division II. One team in that division will play a nonleague foe each week because of an uneven number of teams (seven). Susquehannock (0-3) is up first, getting Exeter Township.

With the YAIAA division games set to kick off Friday night, here is how we see them stacking up:

1. Bermudian Springs (3-0, previously ranked: 2) -- Consistency is recognized as the Eagles, who have given up just 13 points in three games. The defense also has allowed just 367 yards of combined total offense to its opponents.

2. Dallastown (2-1, PR: 1) -- The Wildcats' Week 2 win against West York is enough to keep them from falling too far. Chances are the winner of Friday's game at Spring Grove will determine who gets No. 2 next week.

3. West York (2-1, PR: 3) -- Thirty first downs. No punts. That is truly all you need to know about West York after its 44-27 win at Red Lion in Week 3.

4. Spring Grove (2-1, PR: 4) -- Shay Feulmer's four touchdowns in a 56-20 win against York Suburban has him leading the YAIAA with seven rushing TDs. The Rockets could stake a claim to No. 2 in these rankings, but we will wait to see what happens with Dallastown.

5. Gettysburg (3-0, PR: 5) -- Another team that could claim a higher ranking, Gettysburg stays at No. 5 because teams have scored aplenty on it. However, to counter that and go unscathed, the Warriors run well and showed they can throw. Last week, quarterback Jake Myers threw for 287 yards in a 48-6 win vs. Waynesboro.

In contention: 6. Northeastern (3-0), 7. Eastern York (3-0), 8. Red Lion (1-2), 9. Biglerville (2-1), 10. York Catholic (1-2).
