Central York grad Moyer selected to national field hockey team

Central York's Lauren Moyer will be one of 22 players on the U21 national team for USA Field Hockey, which announced the squad Friday.

Moyer will be a sophomore this fall at the University of North Carolina. She earned a spot on the national team following a junior national camp in early July and previously had been selected to the U.S. U19 team.

Moyer's national field hockey experience includes two years with the U.S. Indoor Team. She also earned a spot in the Women's National Championship, which took place last month at Spooky Nook Sports in Manheim. Afterward, Moyer received an invite to the junior national camp, which is the final tryout for the junior national teams.

This all comes off a freshman season with the Tar Heels, who reached the Atlantic Coast Conference championship and NCAA Division I Final Four. Moyer scored six goals with two assists. She played in all 24 of UNC's games and started five.
