Central York, West York among top ranked boys' teams in District 3

District 3 released its first batch of boys' and girls' basketball ratings for this season on Monday, and at least one YAIAA boys' team cracked the top three in the three bigger classifications.

In Class AAAA, three York-Adams boys' squads cracked the top 20, led by Central York at No. 3. Wilson, which entered the week 10-0, is No. 1. The Bulldogs beat the Panthers by just three points during the holiday break.

West York is second, ranked behind Bishop McDevitt, in the 3A rankings. Bermudian Springs, Eastern York, York Suburban and Dover also made the top 18, which is the cutoff to qualify for tournament play.

Hanover, Delone Catholic and York Catholic are ranked third through fifth in 2A. Biglerville and Fairfield are also in the top 10.

Meanwhile, in single-A, New Hope Academy is third.

The ratings are used to calculate teams for district tournament play. The girls' power ratings were released later Monday night. Click here to find out how YAIAA teams were rated.
