Many YAIAA sports are approaching -- or already have reached -- the midway point of their fall seasons. With that in mind, let's revisit the balance of power in the YAIAA by sport.

Give us your take on these teams in the comments section below. Next up is boys' soccer.

1. South Western (Preseason rank: 2; 5-2, 4-1 Division I) -- The defending tournament champs take the top spot thanks to their 2-1 win Thursday night at Central York.

2. Central York (PR: 1; 9-2, 4-1 D-I) -- Aside from Central's loss to South Western (well, including it because it was a well-played match), the Panthers have looked strong. They even nearly called their shots at one point this season.

3. West York (PR: NR; 6-1-2, 6-0 D-II) -- The Bulldogs suffered an upset Thursday before their showdown at Susquehannock. Division I's Spring Grove earned its first victory of the season, 1-0. Despite that loss, West York swept through the first half of a Division II with Northeastern (5-3, 5-2) off to a hot start and a tough York Suburban (5-3, 3-2) squad. Last but not least, they also edged rival Susquehannock, 1-0 in overtime, to close the first round of divisional games.

4. Susquehannock (PR: 3; 5-4-1, 4-2 D-II) -- Saturday's home loss to West York, which nearly went to double overtime, capped a long week for the Warriors. They played Dallastown to a draw a day after beating last year's Division II champion, York Suburban.

5. Dallastown (PR: 4; 5-4-1, 3-2 D-I) -- The Wildcats remain in the top five ahead of Division III leader Biglerville when considering strength of schedule. A deep postseason run by the Canners can change that.

Honorable mention: Biglerville (PR: 5; 8-1, 5-0 D-III)
