YAIAA field hockey: midseason power rankings

Many YAIAA sports are approaching -- or already have reached -- the midway point of their fall seasons. With that in mind, let's revisit the balance of power in the YAIAA by sport.

Give us your take on these teams in the comments section below. Next up is field hockey.

1. Dallastown (Preseason rank: 1) -- The defending league champs have gone through the first round of Division I play unbeaten. At 8-1 overall, the Wildcats make playing on grass a definite advantage.

2. Red Lion (2) -- The Lions' only hiccup was against Dallastown. They meet again Tuesday, Sept. 24 at Red Lion's Horn Field.

3. Bermudian Springs (3) -- No shock the 7-1 Eagles are perfect in Division III.

4. Northeastern (NR) -- The Bobcats were off to a fast start, which came under first-year coach Dave Marsh. Since then, they lost to league-leading Dallastown and New Oxford. Still, for a one-win team a year ago to be off to a 6-2 start is impressive.

5. Susquehannock (4) -- The Warriors have yet to suffer a Division II loss, but West York is within a game of their lead. Their second meeting is Monday, Sept. 30 at West York.
