Gridiron picks of the week: Defending Week 3 picks, analyzing Week 2

Nothing like a little friendly competition between coworkers.

I mean, that's really what our Gridiron Picks of the Week are mostly about. We like to give you a glimpse at what we think will happen on the York-Adams football fields, but we *really* like to rib each other.

So let's dig into how our pickers are stacking up so far.

Last week's predictions

Matt Goul is still in the lead with a 32-5 accuracy margin. His best pick last week was William Penn over J.P. McCaskey, where he was able to gain a point over all the other pickers except Mike Rubin, who's in last place with a 25-12 accuracy rate.

Mike was the only one to correctly pick Middletown to beat Northern York. But unfortunately for Mike, he was the only one to incorrectly pick Red Lion, which lost to Manheim Township.

The Eastern York-York Suburban matchup had a clear geographic distinction: All of the York-based pickers correctly chose Eastern, while the Hanover-area pickers slipped a point with their Suburban prediction.

The middle of the pack is bunched up: Steve Navaroli trails Matt by three wins, and Lyzz Jones is nipping at Steve's heels. Daniel Paulling and Tom Sixeas are tied.

This week's predictions

This week, Matt and Steve agree on 14 of the 18 games. So in this week's GameTimePA podcast, the guys defend their picks in the four games where they disagree: Red Lion vs. Lampeter-Strasburg, Dallastown vs. Penn Manor, York County Tech vs. York Suburban and Northeastern vs. Shippensburg.

The field should spread a bit this week, as a smattering of games feature lone wolf pickers -- Daniel picking Hanover, and Tom picking Northern York, for instance. And there's no clear group consensus on a couple of other matchups, like the Dallastown-Penn Manor clash.

Check back next week for more smack talk and analysis. In the meantime, peruse our preview capsules for more details on all of this week's games.
