YAIAA football power rankings: Week 2

As would be expected, there is a major shakeup one week into our YAIAA football power rankings. That change came courtesy of Central York's 41-6 trouncing of West York.

Dallastown, thanks to its strong performance in a 21-6 win against Lancaster Catholic, secures the top spot in this week's rankings. Tell us your top five (or 10, if you'd like) in the comments section below. Without further ado, here's this week's top 10:

1. Dallastown (No. 2 last week) -- If the Wildcats keep up the defense they exhibited last week, they should have a strong hold of this spot for a good while.

2. Central York (6) -- The defense was as good as advertised and achieved what coach Brad Livingston said last Friday night he expects of the group. That means forcing about seven turnovers and not giving up any points until already building up a 41-0 advantage. While senior QB Dylan Hose got the glory of four touchdowns, it was running back Breaun Randle's 159 yards on 20 carries behind a bruising offensive line that set them up. "I even said to Coach (Matt Baker), we gotta get somebody else to score here," a humble Hose said Friday night. "Breaun was doing all the hard work."

3. Bermudian Springs (3) -- The Eagles stand pat after a 34-27 win vs. an experienced New Oxford team. Going into last week's matchup, we expected some running backs to emerge for a team needing to replace two 1,000-yard rushers. We knew Ryan Markle could be one of them. We found out Colton Dull and Briton Shelton could be two more.

4. Spring Grove (1) -- For the second straight year, fumbles played a key role in the Rockets' loss to Susquehanna Township. The question is, will this team have another barn-burner against Susquehannock like the one they had last year.

5. Littlestown (5) -- The Bolts looked strong against Boiling Springs and travel to Hanover this week.

6. Delone Catholic (7) -- The Squires fed fullback Matt Giuffreda the football 36 times, and he turned them into 252 yards and four touchdowns. Junior QB Jake Wiles managed a solid 148-yard passing game, too, as Delone beat Trinity for the first time since 2008.

7. West York (4) -- The Bulldogs' first three games are not easy. If they thought Central York was rough, Dallastown waits this Friday. After that, it's a date with Spring Grove, a team West York beat twice but returns many more players from those games.

8. South Western (9) -- The Mustangs got off to an impressive start and piled up the yardage. More importantly, they got a good game from QB Tyler Sterner, who takes over duties behind center full time after sharing with Mike Duffy last fall.

9. York Catholic (8) -- The Irish get the dubious distinction of dropping a spot despite winning. As impressive a three-touchdown rally in the fourth quarter can be, how they got into a 20-6 hole vs. Northeastern weighs more on these rankings at the moment.

10. Dover (NR) -- Game 1 in the Eric Lam Era was a successful as could be expected: a 49-0 victory against Hanover.
