Central York's Gus Minkin fifth in AJGA event


Gus Minkin added more performance stars last weekend at an American Junior Golf Association event. Minkin, entering his sophomore year at Central York, tied for for fifth with a three-round score of 220 at Galloping Hill Golf Course in Kenilworth, N.J.

Minkin finished six shots behind the tournament winner, Ryoto Furuya of Wesley Chapel, Fla. Minkin improved from his first-day 76 by shooting 1-over-par 72s in the second and final rounds. The event included golfers from around the East Coast. Four other golfers tied for fifth with Minkin, including Nicholas Maff of Bethlehem. Another regional golfer, Eric Hall of Harwood, Md., tied for third.
