York County golf alumni invited to charity tournament

Former high school golfers will have a chance to rehash old rivalries during a new charity golf tournament in September.

All York County high school golfers who graduated from approximately 1960-2013 are invited to the alumni challenge. All proceeds from the Sept. 27 tournament will be used for charitable purposes.

“This is a great opportunity to compete against former rivals from other schools to see who still ‘has it’ on the golf course,” said York County President Commissioner Steve Chronister, who is organizing the event. “But more importantly, the money raised will go to help at least two young families that could use a helping hand right now because of unexpected medical expenses.”

The cost to enter the tournament is $80 ($65 if not attending the awards reception). The deadline to enter is Sept. 15. Checks should be made payable to the “Chronister Benefit” and sent to The Chronister Benefit, c/o Grandview Golf Club, 2770 Carlisle Road, York, PA 17404.

The tournament is limited to 192 players, with both individual and team champions. Prizes are expected to include approximately $3,000 in merchandise.

A dinner/awards ceremony will be held the evening of the event.

Early commitments are encouraged by phone or email to Steve at 717-578-3880 or mschronist@gmail.com, or Derek at 717-586-8540 or Derek@golfgrandview.com.
