Central York's Stone sets PR in 400 hurdles

Another weekend meant another track meet away from home for Jay Stone. The District 3 champion hurdler from Central York, who will enter his senior year of high school this fall, ran last weekend in Greensboro, N.C., for the New Balance Outdoor Nationals.

Stone ran in the 110-meter and 400 hurdles. His time in the 400, a personal record 52.95, was good for sixth and, more importantly, placed him 12th in the U.S. for All-American honors, according to coach Chris Detwiler. Stone also 14th in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.54.

Detwiler said he does not believe a Central York athlete has reached the level of success Stone has on the track.
