York Catholic's Brittany Hicks earns D3 regional honor at York College

York College junior forward Brittany Hicks, a York Catholic graduate, earned first-team All-Atlantic Region accolades from D3hoops.com, the college said Wednesday night.

Hicks, who earned first-team All-Capital Athletic Conference honors this season, was one of two conference players to earn first-team honors and one of three CAC players overall on the three squads.

Hicks finished the year leading the Spartans in scoring and rebounding, as she averaged 16.4 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. She shot 44.3 percent from the floor and converted 75 percent of her attempts from the free-throw line. Hicks made a conference-high 188 trips to the free-throw line as she led the CAC in free-throw attempts and made free throws for the third straight year.

Hicks finished tied for second in the CAC in scoring, was second in rebounding, sixth in field goal percentage, and seventh in free throw percentage.

She recorded 15 double-doubles, the 18th highest total in the nation. She tied the highest scoring output in the CAC with a career-high 32 points Feb. 13 at Mary Washington, and she pulled in a career-high 18 rebounds in a Feb. 9 win against Wesley. She became the 14th member of the York College 1,000 career point club in that win against Wesley.

"I am thrilled for Brit," York head coach Betsy Witman said in a news release. "She has worked extremely hard to elevate her game and it showed this season. She has been an important ingredient to our success over the past three years and I expect her to make an even bigger contribution next season as a senior."

Hicks enters her senior year having scored 1,086 career points with 682 rebounds, 499 free-throw attempts, 143 assists and 101 steals. She is a two-time All-CAC selection after being a second-team selection as a sophomore.

The D3hoops.com honor is the first time she has been selected as an all-regional player.
