Mark the calendar: Jan. 14-19
Look for a milestone to be reached by mid-week and some telling matchups by the weekend. This week's schedule includes a few quality opponents for Northeastern as its standout guard and Mount St. Mary commit, Khalid Nwandu, goes for 1,000 career points.
But once we get to Friday and Saturday, York Catholic's girls do not get a break. Last Friday they got rival Delone Catholic. Saturday it's Dallastown that invades for a matchup of the leaders in Divisions I and IV.

Monday, Jan. 14
• Boys' hoops: Central York at Northeastern, 7:30 p.m. -- Bobcats senior guard Khalid Nwandu is 27 points from reaching 1,000 for his career. Can he get it? It's possible. These teams could play at a fast pace. I would not be surprised to see the score in the 70s.
• Girls' hoops: Susquehannock at West York, 7:30 p.m. -- The Warriors (9-3)pushed unbeaten Dover. Can they do the same to West York (10-1)? The loser of this game will find itself in a bigger hole in trying to catch their respective division leaders. The Bulldogs enter a game back of Division I-leader Dallastown, while Susquehannock is two behind Dover in D-II.
Tuesday, Jan. 15
• Wrestling: West York at Dover, 7:30 p.m. -- The backyard rivalry takes to the mats.
• Wrestling: York Suburban at Bermudian Springs, 7:30 p.m. -- This matchup is intriguing because the Trojans have put together a nice run in their dual meets. They have only one YAIAA loss. A matchup in this one is Suburban's Dustin Knaub vs. Bermudian's Dalton Becker at 120 pounds.
Wednesday, Jan. 16
• Boys' hoops: Northeastern at South Western, 7:30 p.m. -- Again, Nwandu could find himself looking for that 1,000-point milestone here. Regardless, it should be a good game with one of the better Division I teams taking on the Division II leaders.
• Girls' hoops: Dallastown at Dover, 7:30 p.m. -- There's a good chance someone could be suffering their first league loss with this night's matchup. Dover enters the week at 12-0 and in front of Division II, but Dallastown (11-2) is 7-0 and on top in Division I.
• Girls' hoops: Delone Catholic at Kennard-Dale, 7:30 p.m. -- It will be interesting to see how Squirettes coach Gerry Eckenrode plans to have his team defend YAIAA leading scorer Sara Tarbert.
Thursday, Jan. 17
• Swimming: York Suburban at Dover, 4:30 p.m. -- On the girls' side, Suburban has lost just once. Dover is unbeaten. On the boys' side, both are sub .500 as teams, but both matchups will be for first place in Division II. Before heading to this one, be sure to check out the top swim times, compiled by Steve Navaroli.
• Wrestling: Bermudian Springs at Eastern York, 7 p.m. -- The matchup to watch here should be at 195 pounds with Eastern's Alex Cooley and Bermudian's Brock Linebaugh. Other quality matches could come at 145 and 220 pounds.
• Wrestling: York County Tech at Hanover, 7 p.m. -- A good cause here. Hanover's athletic booster club is sponsoring a canned-food drive. Free admission will be granted to any student who brings two canned goods or other non-perishable food items to the event. Both Hanover students and students from the opposing team’s school district are encouraged to participate.
Friday, Jan. 18
• Boys' hoops: Delone Catholic at Bermudian Springs, 7:30 p.m. -- This could be a matchup of Division III and IV leaders. The Eagles are currently in a three-way tie with Susquehannock and Eastern York, made possible by the Golden Knights' rally last week at Bermudian. But the Squires are in control of D-IV.
• Girls' hoops: West York at Dover, 7:30 p.m. -- The Division I gauntlet this week continues for the Eagles. First it was Dallastown, and now the Bulldogs, who are healthy again.
Saturday, Jan. 19
• Girls' hoops: Dallastown at York Catholic, 7:30 p.m. -- The best in Division I vs. the best in Division IV. The Irish were able to dispatch Delone Catholic last week without Deanna Chesko. York Catholic should be at full strength for this one, which should be fun to watch. As a side nugget, Irish coach Kevin Bankos is familiar with Dallastown guard Shae Grim, having coached her in AAU.
• Boys' hoops: Red Lion at Eastern York, 7:30 p.m. -- This game will follow a matchup of these schools' respective girls' programs. It should make for a fun night in Wrightsville.
• Wrestling: Boiling Springs at Bermudian Springs, 6:30 p.m. -- The Bubblers recently topped Biglerville and now get the Canners' YAIAA rival in what should be an intense non-league matchup.
