Blair Academy's Brooks Black set to wrestle in York, fresh off Powerade title

Dover native Brooks Black will return to York County this weekend when the York Expo Center hosts a national wrestling showcase. Black wrestles for top-ranked Blair Academy, which will join the 15-team field at the 12th annual National High School Coaches Association Final Four Festival. The event starts at 9 a.m. Saturday. Admission, which is an all-day pass, is $10 for adults and $5 for students.

Blair recently won the team title at the Powerade tournament outside Pittsburgh, and Black claimed the 285-pound championship. He earned a 12-3 major decision against Daryl Hicks of Ripley, W.V. Click here to watch the championship bout.

Also at the Powerade tournament, Kennard-Dale's Chance Marsteller earned a dramatic victory to claim the 170-pound title.

Black left Dover to attend the New Jersey boarding school where he could focus more intently on wrestling. He's one of the top heavyweight wrestlers in the country, ranked second by Intermat.com. He will wrestle for Illinois.

At Saturday's event, Blair could face off against No. 2-ranked Wyoming Seminary, from Kingston, Pa. The field also is composed of Pennsylvania schools Benton, Central Bucks West, Emmaus, Neshaminy, Pennsbury, Souderton and East Strousdsburg South; New Jersey's De Paul Catholic, Don Bosco Prep and St. Benedict’s Prep; Virginia's J.W. Robinson and New Hampshire's Timberlane.

The finals will be available to watch online live at NHSCA.com.
