Huge Friday ahead in YAIAA hoops

Taking a quick glance at this week's schedules one thing stood out: Friday, Jan. 11 has no less than seven games between top girls or boys teams.

Huge girls games:

Of course, few match-ups are as hotly contested as when rivals Delone Catholic (4-0 league, 9-2 overall) and York Catholic (3-0, 7-1), whose Hannah Laslo and Deanna Chesko are pictured at left, square off. The top two teams in Division IV, as well as perennially two of District 3 Class AA's best, will meet on the Fighting Irish home floor at 7:30 p.m.

The top two teams in Division II will also play each other when Susquehannock (3-1, 8-2) travels to Dover to face the undefeated Eagles (4-0, 9-0). Red Lion (4-1, 7-1) heads to West York (3-1, 8-1) for a huge Division I contest. Both teams, along with Dallastown, have just one league loss. In Division III, Bermudian Springs (2-1, 4-4) plays at Eastern York (2-2, 6-3) in a battle between the two teams chasing division front-runner Kennard-Dale.

Big boys games:

Eastern York (3-1, 7-3) plays at Bermudian Springs (3-1, 8-2) in a game for Division III supremacy. York Catholic (3-1, 5-5) plays at Delone Catholic (5-0, 6-4) in a huge Division IV clash and in Division I, William Penn (5-0, 8-2) takes its unbeaten league record to Red Lion for an intriguing game against the Lions (3-2, 8-3).
