Northeastern's Moyer expected to return this season

Big night at Papermakers Stadium for the Spring Grove Rockets, who beat Northeastern, 10-7, to improve to 3-2 overall this season. Spring Grove's defense shut down the Bobcats running game, and the Rockets got just enough on offense from the duo of Matt Runge and Jeff Delaughter.

One final note from Spring Grove: Despite the loss, there was one positive bit of news for Northeastern on Friday.

The Bobcats were forced to play the game without senior wide receiver/linebacker Zach Moyer, perhaps the team's best all-around player. Moyer injured his knee on Thursday during the Northeastern's walk-through practice.

Originally, Bobcats coaches feared he had torn his ACL. Now, it appears that may not be the case.

"We just received good news today that it was only a hyper-extension," Northeastern coach Brendan Brown said. "So we expect to have him back in the next couple weeks, if not ... he's basically day-to-day.

Moyer led Northeastern in receiving (9 catches, 113 yards, 2 TDs) and tackles (42) coming into Friday's game.

"Defensively, it changed our game plan obviously," Brown said of the injury. "And it would have given us a big weapon on offense.

"To find out that he's not out for the season, that was like a win for me today."
