Free prep sessions for PIAA basketball officials exam

The YAIAA chapter of PIAA basketball officials will hold free preparation sessions for the PIAA examination on four Tuesdays at the St. Joseph-York Church meeting rooms, located at 2935 Kingston Road in East York.

Anyone at least 18 years old or a high school graduate is eligible to apply to become an official.

The prep sessions will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 21, Aug. 28, Sept. 4, and Sept. 11.

Instruction will include sample questions from previous exams, a review of the rules book, and an explanation of the process of becoming an official.

The PIAA exam will be Sept. 18 at St. Joseph.

On-court instruction sessions will be scheduled for October.
