William Penn's Tavon Parker earns All-Star MVP nod at Hoop Group Elite camp

Amidst the summer lull, a quick basketball note to pass along...

William Penn rising senior Tavon Parker had quite the weekend at the Hoop Group Elite Camp at Albright College. The 6-foot-1 guard was selected to the camp's all-star game, during which he scored 17 points and led his team to a victory. Parker was named the all-star game's MVP.

A few quotes from Hoop Group's website:

“The competition is my favorite part,” said Parker. “There’s difference between competing and competing at a high level. All coaches want to see each and every player work hard and they pace you if you slack off.” “I didn’t know I scored 17 points. I just tried to emulate Ray Allen from the film session we studied yesterday,” he said. “I worked to get open and, with the right guards setting you up, it makes it easier to knock down shots.”

Plenty more from the Hoop Group camp here.

Parker averaged 12.6 points for the Bearcats last winter, and will be the team's leading returning scorer heading into next season.
