Red Lion football channeling "power" from new training device

Sad about the end of the high school sports season? Fear not, the opening Friday of football season is less than three months away.

Already, football teams across the area are busy getting ready.

I stopped by Red Lion's Horn Field on Tuesday morning, where the Lions were busy working with a unique training device -- the "Power Drive Machine," or PDM, for short. The PDM is actually manufactured in Red Lion by PCA Design.

For the last two years, Red Lion High School has been used as a test site for the machine, one of which was recently purchased by the Cincinnati Reds. The Lions are the first and only high school football team in Pennsylvania to train with the PDM, which weigh in at a hefty 675 pounds. (Believe me, I pushed it earlier. It's not easy.)
