More quotes from the District 3 track and field championships

Shippensburg - Here is a sample of what some YAIAA athletes said after their performances at Saturday's District 3 track and field championships.

Dallastown's Sally Trout after avenging a difficult 300 hurdles finish to placed third in the 100 hurdles: "I was sick this morning, I don’t know if it was nerves or something I ate. I went back to the dorms, showered put on a new set of clothes. The coaches said 'restart you day, come back, chill in the tent and go out and run happy.'" The Dallastown coaches also told her: "Sometimes you are too smart for your own good. You just need to not think of anything. Just shut it off. Turn off your brain and just go."

Biglerville's Noe Aguilar, whose 51-foot shot put toss was a personal best and earned him a bronze medal: "I am (happy). I was seeded fourth. I wasn’t expecting a 51. Anytime you get a PR, it’s always nice ... My coach has been helping with my technique in both discus and shot put. (Making states) was definitely the goal, I know the shot put is my main event."

Central York's Jay Stone on running the hurdles at his smallish size - after winning both the 300 and 110 championships: "I get that all the time, the most important thing with hurdling is, you have to attack the hurdle. You have to go after it with everything you have got so if you do hit it, it’s not going to slow you down, just run it right over."

Red Lion's Cassidy Barshinger, who ran a 46.12 to place fourth in the AAA girls 300 hurdles: "I was trying to concentrate yesterday, eating a good meal and getting a good night’s sleep. My coaches were a big help preparing me. I was up early and that really helped. I really wanted to make it to states, since I was seeded fifth."
