Dallastown's Sally Trout plans to pull double duty at Lafayette College

In these days of sports specialization and year-round travel teams, it's getting less and less common to see athletes dedicate themselves to more than one sport. We still see it plenty, of course. Just not as often as we once did.

But to play more than one sport in college? That's become even rarer.

Especially at the Division I level.

But that's exactly what Dallastown's Sally Trout plans to do next year at Lafayette College in Easton. Trout will play field hockey and run track for the Leopards, who are members of the Patriot League.

Trout was a three-year varsity letter winner on the Wildcats' field hockey team. She was named a YAIAA Division I all-star this past fall, despite being sidelined the second half of the season by a concussion.

Trout has also been a member of Dallastown's varsity track team for four years, and plans to run hurdles and compete in the heptathalon at Lafayette. She figures to be an athlete to watch this spring, especially in the hurdling events. Trout won the 100 hurdles and took second in the 300 hurdles Tuesday against Red Lion. She also qualified for indoor states this past winter, and placed 20th in the 60-meter hurdles.
