Central York's Moyer named to USA Field Hockey Junior National Indoor squad

Central York field hockey standout Lauren Moyer received another honor last week, when she was selected to USA Field Hockey's Junior National Indoor Team.

Moyer, 16, was among 220 athletes who competed at USA junior national tryout held in Feasterville on March 17.  The junior squad consists of 33 high school-aged players who will now compete for chance to represent the U.S. at the inaugural U-19 Indoor Pan American Championships in 2013.

A junior at Central York, Moyer verbally committed last October to play at the University of North Carolina. The Tar Heels are one of the nation's top field hockey programs, and made the NCAA Championship game last fall. Moyer is also a member of East Coast Field Hockey National Academy, and participates within USA Field Hockey's Futures Elite program after competing in the 2011 Junior Olympics and National Futures Championship.

Moyer was injured during much of the fall scholastic season, but was still named a YAIAA Division I field hockey all-star.
