Athlete Spotlight: West York's Cole Rinehart

West York freshman wrestler Cole Rinehart checks in with Varsity Beat.

It’s noon on a typical Saturday. What are you doing?

Outside playing football with my friends.

If you could have dinner with any three people, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Ben Franklin- He is one of my all-time idols in history.

Scott Rodgers- my favorite lacrosse goalie (I also play lacrosse).

Cael Sanderson – He is now the Penn State wrestling coach.   He won a gold medal in the 2004 Olympics.  He wrestled in college at Iowa State, and in his four years there went undefeated (159-0) and won four national titles.

If you could switch places with any one person who would it be?

My dad- I think he has a really interesting job.  He is an EMT, and I want to be in his shoes one day.

You are in charge of running GameTimePA.com? What would you change?

I wouldn’t get rid of anything.   I am on there every day and think they do a great job.

What TV show needs to make a comeback?

"Trauma." It was on for two seasons, and it went off, and I was like why?

If you could travel anywhere for a month, where would you go?

Somewhere in the Caribbean like Jamaica or Belize.

Why did you start wrestling?

Because all my friends played basketball.  I thought I'd go out for the basketball team (in 3rd grade) and didn’t make it.  Another friend said try wrestling and I did and I have wrestled ever since.

So you have to watch your weight all season long.  What is the best way to end the season and pig out?

At Millers Smorgasbord.  It is an all-you-can-eat buffett.  A lot of ham, meat, desserts and cheesecake.

Is there a drill that you do in practice that you think, 'This is nuts?'

We do a drill called Bulldog.  Coach picks a number, any number.  So if you pick 15, then you do 15 pushups, 15 situps and 15 squat jumps and without stopping you do 14, 13, 12, 11 all the way down to 1.
