Athlete Spotlight: South Western's Rafe Sanders


Rafe Sanders is a senior guard for the undefeated South Western boys' basketball team. He took a few minutes recently to discuss some of his interests away from the court.

What was on your Christmas list?

A new Macbook Pro laptop. It is on it’s way.

It’s noon on a typical Saturday, what are you doing?

Well, if I am not sleeping or at work, then I am just hanging out with my friends having a good time, finding something fun to get into.

If you could have dinner with three people, dead or alive, who would they be and why?

Robinson Cano -- He is my favorite baseball player.

Ray Allen -- He is a great 3-point shooter and one of my favorite NBA players.

Allen Iverson -- He used to be my favorite player growing up.

If you could switch places with any one person for a day, who would you pick?

Probably Allen Iverson, back in his prime. I loved his skill set and the way he led his team.

What TV show needs to make a comeback?

I used to watch Unsolved Mysteries a lot, so I would say that.

If you could travel anywhere in the world for a month where would it be?

Probably Australia. I hear the wildlife is awesome there.

Why did you start playing basketball?

My dad used to play a lot and he was a huge influence. And I just love the game.
