Well, this shouldn't come as much of a surprise. Kennard-Dale wrestling phenom Chance Marsteller ripped through the competition at the USAW Cadet Greco-Roman National Championships in Fargo, N.D., yesterday, en route to a 152-pound championship. Marsteller cruised through his bracket, and was not scored upon in any of his nine matches. The soon-to-be junior sophomore dispatched Nevada's Ryder Newman, 1-0, 7-0, in the final. Pennsylvania produced four Cadet (ages 15-16) champions -- including Marsteller -- and ran away with the team title. The victory gave Marsteller his second Cadet National championship -- he won a freestyle crown last summer. Marsteller finished fourth in Greco-Roman in 2010. The Junior and Cadet National Championships are taking place in Fargo throughout this week, with the freestyle competitions set to start in the coming days. Marsteller will be among the favorites to win a freestyle crown, as will Dover native Brooks Black, who will be wrestling in the junior (ages 17-18) division. Black chose not to wrestling in the Greco-Roman competition this week, opting instead to focus on freestyle. You can find an event schedule here.
