Dover native Black named ASICS All-American

The awards continue to roll in for Dover native Brooks Black. The soon-to-be junior heavyweight, who just wrapped up his sophomore year at wrestling powerhouse Blair Academy, earned a first-team selection to the 26th annual ASICS All-America Wrestling Team this past week. The team is decided by a panel of national wrestling experts. To provide some perspective, the ASICS team would be high school wrestling's equivalent to the McDonald's All-American basketball squads. As if that wasn't enough, Black's selection carries an added distinction: He is the first heavyweight to be named to the ASICS first team as a sophomore. Keep an eye out for a more in-depth look at Black in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, a pair of local state champions also earned mention on ASICS annual list... Kennard-Dale's Chance Marsteller, who won a 152-pound state championship as a freshman this winter, was named to the second team. Meanwhile, New Oxford's Jordan Conaway earned an honorable mention selection at 112 pounds. Conaway won a state title as a senior this winer, and will wrestle at Penn State next year. In all, Pennsylvania contributed 17 wrestlers to the list, more than any other state.
