Ephrata helps out York Catholic

York Catholic baseball's District 3 Class AA semifinal victory over Kutztown wasn't the only thing on the Irish players plates on Tuesday.

It was also baccalaureate at York Catholic, so the seniors (which much of this team is) had to high-tail it from Ephrata's War Memorial Field back to York.

Not helping matters was the heat that produced game time temps in the 90s. Stinky ballplayers may not have made for a nice ceremony, but the host school did its part.

Almost immediately after the 3-1 victory, York Catholic athletic director Rick Luckman made sure the Irish seniors didn't waste any time, sending them inside the Ephrata High School so they could shower and make it to baccalaureate.

It's moments like these that make the spring sports season unique.
