Ten to watch at the YAIAA track championships

The track postseason kicks off tomorrow at 4 p.m., when the first gun will sound at the YAIAA Track and Field Championships at Dallastown High School. The District 3 meet will follow next weekend, with the PIAA championships scheduled for May 27 and 28 at Shippensburg University. As usual, there are plenty of local athletes worth watching as we head into the Big 3 events. I've tried to highlight 10 of them -- five boys and five girls -- after the jump. BOYSBrandon Taylor, Kennard-Dale -- The senior is the top seed in the both the 1,600 meters (9:26) and 3,200 meters (9:43). He missed the first half of a season because of a left knee injury. (Read more here.) Braheem Harvey, William Penn -- Last year's District 3 Class AAA champion in the 110 hurdles will be the top seed in that event with a qualifying time of 14.94 seconds. Bermudian Springs Brett Warner isn't far behind (14.96). Jarred Posey, William Penn -- The junior is one of the state's top triple jumpers, and could challenge for district and state medals in a few weeks. His qualifying jump of 46 feet, 11 1/2 inches is not far off the league meet record. Mike Felton, South Western -- He's the only sprinter in the area with a qualifying time under 11 seconds (10.95) in the 100 meters. Angelo Koimene, Central York -- The senior is seeded second in the 100 meters (11.04), and first in the 200 (22.44). GIRLSJamilla Janneh, New Oxford -- The junior could sweep the jumping events. She's the top seed in the long jump (17-08.25), high jump (5-05.50) and the triple jump (38.09.50). Margo Britton, Dallastown -- She'll be the favorite in both the shot put (42.10.00) and discus (136-02), and could challenge the league meet record of 41-01.50 in the shot. Sally Trout, Dallastown -- She'll be the top seed in both the 100 hurdles (15.34) and 300 hurdles (47.84). Megan Lundy, Central York -- The junior is the No. 1 seed in the 400 meters (59.78) and also runs on Central's top-seeded 400 relay (49.72) and 1600 relay (4:06.41) teams. Stormie Hibshman, Delone Catholic -- As a freshman last year, she set a league meet record in the javelin (134-09). She hasn't quite equaled that this season (123-00), but she'll still be the top seed in this year's event.
