YAIAA athlete spotlight: Bryce Harbold

Bryce is a senior at Spring Grove. He plays basketball and volleyball.

How is the volleyball season going so far?

So far it's going awesome. It started out a little rough with some of our first few tournaments, but now it's going really well.

What is your teams record?

Not counting tournament play we are 13-1. (They just beat the number one team in the state, Northeastern Wednesday night).

What position do you play?

I am a middle hitter.

What is it about volleyball that you enjoy?

I love playing defense. I love trying to anticipate where the hitter is going with the ball and getting the ball up.

Will you play either sport in college?

I am planning on playing basketball next year in college. I haven't thought a whole lot about playing volleyball.

When did you first start playing volleyball?

I first starting playing on a team in 7th grade. I grew up around the sport though. My mom coached volleyball when I was growing up and all of my family pretty much played so I kinda just picked it up from them.

What has been the highlight of your volleyball career so far?

This year has been the highlight of my career. Just starting out 9-0 and now 13-1 and being ranked No. 5 in the state. Defeating the number one team in the state Northeasatern tonight for the first time was a great feeling.

What is your favorite night before a match meal?

I will eat anything the night before a match as long as it tastes good!

What is one snack you cannot live without?

I don't eat a whole lot of snacks. I dont like to put that all that junk in my body.

What is one song you listen to on the bust to a game?

Normally something by Eminem, J.Cole or Wiz Khalifa to get the blood flowing.

What is your favorite TV show?

I have two, Fresh Prince of Bel Air and SportsCenter.

What is the best piece of advice you have received?

"Always keep God number one in my life!" --  from all of my family.
