Northeastern volleyball coach Matt Wilson is amazed at the YAIAA volleyball league, which currently has four teams that are ranked in the Top 10 in either Class AAA or AA by the PVCA (Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association).

In AA, Wilson's Bobcats are the No. 1 ranked team and York Suburban has moved up to eighth in the poll. Over in AAA, Central York holds the top spot, with Spring Grove coming in at sixth.

"I don't know how often that happens," Wilson said of a league boasting two No. 1 ranked teams. "It might happen for a week or two, but apparently someone thinks the two of us are pretty good. For both of us to maintain that high level is pretty special and for us to be in the backyard of one another is pretty rare."

Wilson has seen firsthand how good the Panthers are as Central is the only team to best Northeastern this season, doing the trick twice during each side's respective tournaments.

"Central is very engaged right now. They are on a mission and we can certainly understand that," Wilson said.
