Central, Northeastern on top of PVCA polls

It's not exactly a surprise to see Central York and Northeastern on top of the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association's weekly top10 rankings. But to see them both at No. 1 in their respective classes at the same time, this early in the season? That happened to be the case earlier this week, when the PVCA released its first boys' volleyball rankings of the season. Central York earned the No. 1 spot in Class AAA, while Northeastern took the top rankings in Class AA. Really, neither rankings should register as much of a shock. Northeastern returns the bulk of last year's state championship team. Central York, meanwhile, is fresh off a tournament victory this past weekend at Northeastern's own Bobcat Invitational, a 30-team event which attracted several of the top volleyball teams in the state. The Panthers even drew first blood against their archrival, toppling Northeastern in the semifinals, 10-21, 24-22, 15-10. The two will meet again -- likely with higher stakes -- in both teams' regular season finale on Wednesday, May 11 at 7:30 p.m. at Central York. That one should be a doozy.
