Dover looking for new girls' basketball coach

Dover High School is looking for a new girls' basketball coach, the school said in a release sent out this week. The advertisement would seem to signal the end of Mike Sanders' three-year run at the school. Sanders, a former Red Lion assistant, did an admirable job turning around the Eagles program. After registering 1-21 and 6-16 seasons its two previous seasons, Dover improved to 13-10 this year. The Eagles qualified for the District 3 Class AAA tournament, but lost to Kennard-Dale, 50-39, in the first round. Dover has some pieces in place to compete next year. The sister combo of freshman Alayah Hall (11.3 ppg) and junior Ayanna Hall (9.2 ppg) both return next season, along with several others.
