Sites, times set for PIAA basketball quarterfinals

The three YAIAA teams left standing in the PIAA basketball playoffs know where and when they'll be playing on Friday. All three will have rather significant road trips ahead of them. The Eastern York boys will have the longest trek. The Golden Knights (26-4) will head to Hollidaysburg Area High School, where they'll play District 7 runners-up South Fayette (24-2) in a Class AAA quarterfinal at 7 p.m. Meanwhile, the Delone Catholic girls and York Catholic girls will take part in a Class AA quarterfinal doubleheader at a familiar site: Martz Hall in Pottsville. The Squirettes (22-7) will take the floor first at 6 p.m., when they face District 2 champions Dunmore (24-5). The Fighting Irish (29-0) will follow at 7:30, when they'll meet Mid Valley (24-4), the third seed from District 2. If both win, York Catholic and Delone Catholic would then meet in a PIAA Class AA semifinal on Tuesday, at a site and time to be determined. It would be the fourth meeting this season between the two teams. The first three were won by York Catholic.
