Updated scoring numbers heading into states

Looking at some of these numbers, I can't help but wonder where this 2011 basketball class ranks in terms of the best to come out of the area. In one class, we have the YAIAA's career scoring leader, its leading quad-A boys' scorer, and perhaps the best girls' player ever to come out of the area. Not too shabby. Here's a look at where a few of their scoring numbers stand heading into the start of the state basketball playoffs. Thanks to my colleague Jim Seip for putting them together. BOYSFour McGlynn, Dallastown, 1,823 pointsNotes: The senior guard is the school's all-time leading scorer, boys or girls. He's also the leading quad-A boys' scorer in YAIAA history, passing Spring Grove's Jared Smith (1,676). McGlynn led all YAIAA boys in scoring this season (23.6 ppg). Austin Tillotson, Eastern York, 1,821 pointsNotes: The senior points guard ranks second on the career scoring list at Eastern behind only teammate Andrew Nicholas. The Golden Knights have three of the league's top 10 scorers of all-time (includes Jon Raab, who scored 1,680 points). Andrew Nicholas, Eastern York, 2,448 pointsNotes: Is the league's all-time leading scorer, girls or boys. Averaged 24.8 points per game during this year's district playoffs. Pete Yingst, Hanover 1,090 pointsNotes: Needs 104 points to tie school's career scoring record held by '68 grad Kevin O'Brien (1,194). Kelvin Parker, William Penn, 1,436 pointsNotes: Ranks first in program history in scoring, having passed '93 grad Scott Doll (1,272). GIRLSKady Schrann, York Catholic, 2,125 pointsNotes: Needs 51 points to pass William Penn's Barb DeShields and move into third place for girls' career scoring in the YAIAA. Needs 179 points to match Northeastern's Autumn Lau for league's all-time scoring record. Sierra Moore, Delone Catholic, 1,801 pointsNotes: The junior has a good shot at passing Lau (2,304) for the all-time record next seaon. Needs 296 points to pass Meredith Cox for the school scoring record. Led all YAIAA girls with 23.6 points per game this season.
