Villa Maria girls' basketball coach resigns

Some stunning news out of District 10 today. According to the Erie Times-News, Villa Maria girls' basketball Scott Dibble has resigned from his post. Dibble had coached the Victors to PIAA Class AA championships each of the past two years, with both of those titles coming over perennial local powers York Catholic. From the Times-News story, which you can find here: The announcement was made by Erie Catholic Preparatory School athletic director Bill Flanagan during an afternoon news conference on the Villa Maria campus. A letter of explanation from school president the Rev. Scott Jabo said the school asked for and received Dibble's resignation.Dibble was served in November with a second protection-from-abuse order in just over seven years. His wife, Meghan Dibble, was granted a PFA order on Nov. 16, 11 days after she wrote in a petition to Erie County Court that Scott Dibble had threatened to "bash my face in." Villa Maria was ranked No. 2 in the latest Patriot-News girls' Class AA state rankings, one spot behind York Catholic and one spot ahead of Delone Catholic. That said, this is obviously a situation that goes far beyond the basketball court, hence the school's response.
