Schrann, Nicholas nominated for McDonald's All-America game

Add one more line to the seemingly endless list of honors Kady Schrann has compiled in her four years at York Catholic. The Fighting Irish senior has been named a nominee for the 2011 McDonald's All-America game, which will be held at the United Center in Chicago on March 30. Before you get too excited, Schrann is one of approximately 1,000 boys and girls players who have been nominated. It's a fairly long a complicated process to determine who actually make the prestigious event. You can read more about it here. Still, it's one more bullet point on the resume for the Vanderbilt recruit, who already has earned three first-team all-state honors, three PIAA Class AA championship game appearances, and is the all-time leading girls' scorer in York Catholic history. Schrann is averaging 19.1 points per game this year for the unbeaten Irish (16-0). Hat tip to Cory Mull over at the Handful of Sports blog for first pointing this out. Give his blog a read if you get the chance. UPDATE: Whoops, looks I missed another local name off the list of nominees. Eastern York senior Andrew Nicholas is also among the massive group of hopefuls. A Class AAA all-state second team pick a year ago, Nicholas is averaging 21.9 points per game this year for the Golden Knights, and is in line to possibly become the YAIAA's all-time leading scorer by season's end.
