In a game that matched up the No. 6 and No. 7 ranked teams in the state, No. 7 Greenwood came out on top. Greenwood was led by Cam Hinkel and his 13 points to defeat Church Farm 43-35. Greenwood improves to 15-0 and the loss was the first on the season for Church Farm who is now 13-1.
Central Dauphin used a huge game by Devin Thomas to come back from a 20 point deficit to eventually defeat Bishop McDevitt 83-81 in triple overtime. Thomas finished the game with 43 points and 23 rebounds. The game winning shot was made by Zayd Issah with only 0.6 seconds left.
It is not often that you can turn the ball over 22 times in a gmae and still have a chance to win. That however, was just what happened for Hempfield. Despite their 22 turnovers, they still found a way to come out on top. They used 19 points from Dylan Manning and had three other players in double digits to pull out a 75-70 victory.
The Westtown boys basketball team improved to 14-4 after 23 points, 13 rebounds, five blocks and three assists by 6-foot-10, 235-pound junior Daniel Ochefu to defeat Phelps 61-44. Ochefu is currently ranked 11th in the nation according to ESPNU.com and has scholarship offers from Georgetown, West Virginia, Temple, Rutgers, Texas, and Virginia among many others.
Mansfield avenged an overtime loss a few weeks ago from Wellsboro by defeating them 50-41 Saturday handing the Hornets their first loss of the season. Mansfield improved to 12-3 and Wellsboro dropped to 14-1.
With one Cook (Devin) in foul trouble, Beaver Falls turned to the other Cook (Drew) for leadership. Drew stepped up and scored 25 points to lead Beaver Falls to a 66-37 win over rival Aliquippa. Beaver Falls improved to 5-0 in Section 6-AA.
