Cedar Crest proves the preseason predictions correct

Cedar Crest is using a blend of smarts and suffocating defense to propel themselves to first place in Tier II L-L behind a 9-1-1 mark after beating Annville-Cleona 3-0 last Wednesday.


Shady Side Academy's Alexander crowned three-time champ

Geoff Alexander and Mackenzie McGuire entered the Allegheny County wrestling tournament with the possibility of leaving as three-time champ.  The only problem, they were in the same weight class.  In the championship match of the 125-pound weight class Geoff Alexander used a takedown to lead the way in his 3-0 defeat of McGuire to earn his third county championship.


Hempfield wrestlers unseat Connellsville

In a battle of top teams in Section 2-AAA wrestling, Hempfield proved to be top dog Tuesday by defeating Connellsville 37-28.   With the win, Hempfield clinched first place and improved to 13-2 overall.


Woodland Hills' LB picks Buckeyes

2011 senior linebacker Ejuan Price made a verbal commitment Monday to Ohio State.  Price, a highly recruited linebacker, chose the Buckeyes over Rutgers, Iowa and many others.  Price is the third Woodland Hills player this year to commit to a D-1 school.  Lafayette Pitts committed to Pittsburgh and Quinton Jefferson committed to Maryland.


Carlisle swim team takes down Cedar Cliff

Carlisle's boys and girls swim teams swept Cedar Cliff on Tuesday.  The boys won 110-58 and the girls won 108-62.  It was a total team effort for both the boys and girls teams.  The Carlisle boys improved to 3-6 and the girls to 2-5-1.


Boiling Springs wrestling handles East Penn

It always hurts when your team has to forfeit matches in a weight class, but to do it three times in a match severely puts a team behind the eight-ball and thats exactly what happened to East Penn and they were never able to recover.  Boiling Springs dominated the match from the beginning and cruised to a 57-17 victor to improve to 4-2 overall and 3-0 in the Capital.
