YAIAA football power rankings, 10/26

We have minimal movement in our power rankings this week, although I did engineer a bit of a switch at the top spot. Littlestown fans, be kind... Click the jump for the rest of the Top Ten. 1. Dallastown (T-1) -- OK, so I couldn't cop out by leaving these two teams tied at No. 1 for a second straight week. I gave Dallastown the edge just based on competition. Not that Littlestown's schedule has been easy, but beating six quad-A teams (plus West York) is no easy accomplishment. Plus, because of it's offensive style, Dallastown isn't going to rack up the style points like the Bolts do. The Wildcats just grind out wins. And they do it very well. 2. Littlestown (T-1) -- Once again, no disrespect intended toward the Bolts (8-0, 7-0 Div. III) here. The haven't just beaten every team in front of them -- they've throttled them. And Littlestown has another chance to impress this weekend against Bermudian Springs. Maybe a win can help the Bolts reclaim the top spot in the District 3 Class AA power rankings (they fell from the top spot this week). 3. West York (3) -- While everybody pays attention to the Division I race, the Bulldogs (6-2, 3-0 Div. II) just keep humming along. West York won easy once again last weekend at Kennard-Dale, and has really benefited from a stingy, opportunistic defense. The Bulldogs are tied for the league lead with 20 turnovers forced, good for a plus-10 ratio. 4. Spring Grove (5) -- The Rockets (5-3, 2-1 Div. I) look like they're playing their best football heading into Friday's clash with Dallastown. Spring Grove dismantled William Penn on Friday, thanks largely to 214 rushing yards and five total touchdowns by senior Joshua Slate. 5. Delone Catholic (4) --An expected lopsided scoreline against Fairfield masked an at-times sloppy performance by the Squires (7-1, 6-1 Div. III). But after two huge wins the previous two weeks, perhaps a bit of a letdown was to be expected. 6. Red Lion (6) -- The Lions (6-2, 2-1 Div. I) got a huge bounce back win against South Western behind it's enormous offensive and defensive lines. As big as those units are, it's about time we saw them start to dominate games for Red Lion. 7. York Catholic (9) -- Couldn't let the power rankings be the exact same as last week, could we? Besides, the Irish (5-3, 4-2 Div. III) deserve a little love -- this team is two last-second losses away from being 7-1 and possibly the top seed in the District 3 Class A playoffs. 8. South Western (7) -- What was a significant win for Red Lion was a significant setback for the Mustangs (4-4, 1-2 Div. I), who were stagnant one week after a thrilling win at Central York. Now South Western will be left scrapping for a district playoff berth. 9. Central York (8) -- The Panthers (4-4, 1-2 Div. I) suffered their second straight loss Friday, this one coming against Dallastown. Good as Central's defense is, its offense needs to be more consistent. In their four defeats, the Panthers have scored a total of 28 points. 10. Bermudian Springs (10) -- The Eagles held off Hanover Friday and are 6-2 overall this season (5-2 Div. III), but this team is still looking for a signature victory. It has a chance to get one this week when it visits Littlestown.
