We'll follow up with a Littlestown-centric blog post in a bit, but first an update on a pair of potentially devastating injuries for the York Catholic football team. Seniors Nick Full and Gary Laucks, two core members of this Irish team, both went down with separated shoulders Friday night against Littlestown. York Catholic coach J.D. Martin said after the game Full is done for the season. Laucks could be done as well, Martin said. "It's a hell of a blow to this football team," the coach said. Both players were Division III all-star choices last season. Full is a starter at both running back and linebacker, while Laucks starts at wide receiver (six touchdown catches this season) and in the defensive backfield. Full returned to the lineup last week after missing two games with a separated left shoulder. He injured the right shoulder Friday while running with the ball on a screen pass. Full fumbled on the play, and Littlestown recovered. Laucks, meanwhile, was hurt in the first quarter while making a tackle. Both Laucks and Full had been recruited by Division I-FCS (formerly I-AA) schools coming into this season. Together with quarterback Adam Sentz, Full and Laucks formed sort of a "Big 3" (my name, not theirs) for this York Catholic football team. Obviously, losing two of those three is a tremendous setback for a team that came into the season with hopes of winning a District 3 Class A title.
