More fun with district power rankings

When it comes to District 3's power rankings, football tends to snag most of the attention. But the district's brand new rankings system also applies to boys' soccer and field hockey (on a trial basis for this year, at least). And a few YAIAA teams in both sports are lined up for a top district playoff seed. Start in boys' soccer, where two local teams cracked the Top 3 of the districts triple-A rankings. Dallastown sits at No. 1, while fellow unbeaten West York checks in at No. 3. And wouldn't you know it, those two teams happen to square off this Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at West York. Should give you plenty of time to catch the match, then hightail it back to your couch for the slate of noon college football games. Central York (9-1) checks in at No. 8 in Class AAA. In Class AA, York Suburban (7-2) and Susquehannock (5-3-2) clock in a No. 5 and 10, respectively. And in Class A, a trio of area teams -- York Catholic, Biglerville and Fairfield -- line up at 7,8, and 9, respectively. In field hockey, Dallastown once again finds itself near the top of the district rankings. The Wildcats (9-0) are No. 2 in the Class AAA rankings, while Red LIon (7-2) sits at No. 7. In Class AA, unbeaten Bermudian Springs is No. 3. Of course, these rankings will fluctuate in the coming weeks. But they do give us a sense of who the teams to watch are in these two sports.
